Piemonte- Città di Torino (Torino city)

North-western region, with capital city Torino, Piemonte is the second Italian region in terms of surface area, after Sicily. The mountain ranges, firstly the Alps, surrounding the region to the west and north, and the Apennines, on the border with Liguria and Emilia-Romagna are thus a natural neat line, and so important that they have given the name to the region (Piemonte , means "at the foot of the mountains"). Also rich in various streams and rivers, all tributaries of the Po, the Piemonte region also houses the Maggiore lake, the second Italian lake by extension, after the Lake of Garda. The Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, in collaboration with the Piemonte region, has recognized 341 food products as "traditional", allowing this region to reach the fifth position in terms of number of traditional products, behind Tuscany, Campania, Lazio and Emilia-Romagna . The Agnolotti are the first dish of the region that sound familiar, but impossible to forget the risotto, often flavored with the exceptional white Alba truffles. The cheeses are plenty, Bra, Robiola and Tomino just to name a few, maybe served with a Grissino, typical bread stick from Piemonte, known everywhere. Very famous the sweets, and not only the classic “Gianduiotto” chocolate , but even the “Canestrelli” and many others have their origin here. Wines are a world, starting with Barbera d'Asti and Dolcetto D'Alba and going through the Malvasia, the Fresia…impossible to describe them all..
